Community Clean-Up Day
Join us for a rejuvenating day of community spirit and environmental stewardship at the Mike Walters Memorial Wetland on April 11 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM!
Organized by the City of Auburn Water Pollution Control, Auburn Parks and Recreation, DeKalb County Soil & Water Conservation District and proudly sponsored by The Home Depot, this event is all about revitalizing one of our cherished green spaces.
Together we will work to remove litter, clear debris, and restore the natural beauty of the wetland. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or just looking for a great way to give back, everyone is welcome!

Prescribed Fire Workshop

This workshop is designed for private landowners and professionals interested in learning more about the implementation of prescribed fire on private lands.
Topics included:
-Purpose and benefits of prescribed fire
-Burn planning and unit preparation
-Fire weather websites and tools
-Safety and Personal Protective Equipment
-There will be a live fire demonstration weather permitting
-Closed toed shoes and natural fiber clothing are recommended.

Youth Soil Judging
Soil Judging Practice Day
Calling all middle school & high school students, FFA members, and 4-H youth! Come get your hands dirty and sharpen your skills at our upcoming Soil Judging Practice event. Whether you're preparing for competitions or just want to learn more about soil science, this is the perfect opportunity to dig in and learn!
Date: September 12, 2025
Time: 9am – 11am
Location: DeKalb County Farm (2315 County Road 40, Auburn, IN 46706).
Open to: Middle & high school students, FFA members, and 4-H youth
What to expect:
- Hands-on soil pit evaluations
- Practice identifying soil horizons, textures, and structure
- Learn how to determine land capability classes and management practices
- Tips and coaching from experienced instructors
Bring your boots, a water bottle, and your curiosity! All materials will be provided, and snacks will be available.
